Weekly Discussion Questions

This discussion is to help you think about the book on a deeper level. I think that, ideally, the family members reading the books should discuss the questions as a family, and then post a brief summary of your discussion for others to read and comment on. If you have concerns about this let me know. This is all a work in progress. I think for now, we will post our discussions on the Assignments page for the week in the comments section. If you have a post longer than will fit in the comments, let me know and I will figure out a way to get it on the page.

Week one of each month we will discuss the following questions:

  1. What kind of journey was undertaken in this book?
  2. What was the reason for the journey?
  3. How does the reason for the journey affect the traveler(s)?
Week two:
  1. Was the journey mostly physical or spiritual?
  2. Was there a parallel between the physical and spiritual journey?
Week three:
  1. How did the journey contribute to the education of the traveler?
  2. How could/did the knowledge that everyone is a child of God help the main character in his trials?
Week four:
  1. What kind of journey are you experiencing right now?
  2. What parallels can you draw between yourself and the main characters in this book?
